Ethical Fashion Africa collection by Vivienne Westwood

De nieuwe herfst/winter collectie van Vivienne Westwood is ontworpen en geïnspireerd op Afrika. In samenwerking met The International Trade Centre heeft ze de Ethical Fashion Africa collectie gemaakt.

De modeontwerpster en fotograaf Juergen Teller zijn samen naar Afrika gereid om mooie beelden te schieten van de collectie. Westwood verteld over haar reis: ‘Wat ik doe, tassen maken samen met de lokale bevolking, kan een heel verschil maken. Dit project geeft de mensen controle over hun leven. Liefdadigheid geeft geen controle. Het doet juist het tegenovergestelde. Het maakt de mensen afhankelijk’.

Ook het hoofd van International Trade Centre, Simone Cipriani, heeft een goed woordje te zeggen over de collectie en samenwerking: ‘Door ons project kan een groep van de meest armste mensen deel uit maken van de modewereld. Als fashion producers en ontwerpers’.

Dat het een goed project is blijkt wel uit het feit dat al meer dan 7000 vrouwen zijn geholpen aan een beter leven. Bekijk hier de mooie beelden van de collectie.

The new fall/ winter collection by Vivienne Westwood is designed and inspired by Africa. In collaboration with the International Trade Centre they have made the Ethical Fashion Africa collection.

The fashion designer and photographer Juergen Teller travelled to Africa together to shoot the gorgeous pictures of the collection. Westwood tells about her trip: ‘What I do, making bags with the local population, can make a difference. This project gives the people control over their life. Charity does the opposite. It makes people dependent’.

Also the head of International Trade Centre, Simone Cipriani, says a good word about the collection and collaboration: ‘Because of our project a group of the most poor people can be a part of the fashion world. As fashion producers and designers’.
