New York Fashion Week - Part 1

Het is eindelijk zover! New York Fashion Week is het afgelopen weekend van start gegaan. De modellen van o.a. Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham en Diane von Furstenberg flaneerden weer over de catwalk in de meest prachtige creaties.

Jason Wu – Lente/ Zomer 2012

Zwierige jurken en bijzondere tops met een overlapping die als een soort tutu over de rokken valt. Een collectie waarbij vrouwelijkheid centraal staat. Jason Wu laat de jaren ’50 helemaal terug komen want ook hooggesloten kraagjes en wijde rokken passeren de revue. Het kleurenpalet bestaat uit okergeel, blauw, off-white, grijs en roze. De outfits zijn afgemaakt met trendy accessoires zoals riempjes met een kleine strik, lange oorbellen en clutches in felle kleuren.

Alexander Wang – Lente/ Zomer 2012 

Alexander Wang geeft een sportieve touch aan zijn vertrouwde urban edge. Hij liet zich inspireren door extreme sporten zoals autoracen en motorcross. Daarom hebben de kledingstukken een mix van ‘gewone’ materialen met high-tech stoffen voor de sportieve look. De modellen wandelden in strak gesneden jassen, originele pakken met prints en badpakken met capes over de catwalk. De kleuren die centraal stonden zijn rood, blauw, zwart en wit. De accessoires? Heel bijzonder want die bestonden uit helmen, (bad)mutsen en tassen in de vorm van een duikfles.

Victoria Beckham – Lente/ Zomer 2012 

Miss Beckham heeft zich laten inspireren door geometrische vormen waardoor we strakke silhouetten tegenover wijdvallende items terug zien. De pluspunten van het lichaam werden benadrukt door strakke korsetten, lage tailles en indrukwekkende schouderbanden. Maar ook zij gaf een sportieve twist aan de collectie door glimmende stoffen te gebruiken waardoor er jassen met functionele zakken en ritsen voorbij kwamen. De kledingstukken hadden de trendy nude kleuren, maar ook zacht paars, donker blauw en oranje. De accessoires waren platte en hoge sandalen en tassen in zomerse kleuren.

Diane von Furstenberg – Lente/ Zomer 2012

Deze modeontwerpster hulde haar modellen in jurken met bloemenprint, gracieuze rokken en comfortabele, lange truien met een flinke dosis elementen uit de jaren ’60. Zij heeft gekozen voor een vrolijke, zomers collectie wat terug te zien is in de kleuren: mintgroen, blauw, nudes en rood met veel DvF prints. De modellen droegen natuurlijk ook accessoires zoals clutches, zonnebrillen en hakken met dunne bandjes.

At last the time has arrived! New York Fashion Week started last weekend. The models from among others Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and Diane von Furstenberg parade over the catwalk in the most beautiful creations.

Jason Wu – Spring/ Summer 2012 

Elegant dresses and special tops with an overlap that falls over the skirts like a tutu. A collection where femininity is the source. Jason Wu brings back the fifties because also high-necked collars and wide skirts were shown. The colour palette exist out of ochre, blue, off-white, grey and pink. The outfits are finished with trendy accessories like belt with a small bow, long bracelets and clutches in bright colours.

Alexander Wang – Spring/ Summer 2012 

Alexander Wang gives a sporty touch to his trusted urban edge. He was inspired by the extreme sports like car races and motor cross. That why the clothing pieces have a mix of ‘normal’ materials with high-tech fabrics for the sports look. The models walked in tightly-fitted coats, original suits with prints and swimsuits with capes on the catwalk. The colours that were central are red, blue, black and white. The accessories? Very extraordinary because they exist out of helmets, (bathing)caps and bags in the shape of a cylinder.

Victoria Beckham – Spring/ Summer 2012 

Miss Beckham was inspired by geometric shapes, which gives tight silhouettes against widely covered items. The pluses of the body are accentuated by tight corsets, low waist-lines and impressive shoulder-straps. But she also gave a sports twist to her collection by using shiny fabrics through which coats with functional pockets and zippers came by. The clothing piece have the trendy nude colours, but also pastel purple, dark blue and orange. The accessories were flat and high sandals and bags in nice summer colours.

Diane von Furstenberg – Spring/ Summer 2012 

This fashion designer has put her models into dresses with a flower print, gracious skirts and comfortable, long sweaters with a big doses of elements from the sixties. She choose joyful, summery collection which is visible in the colours: mint green, blue, nudes and red with many DvF prints. The models wear accessories like clutches, sunglasses and heels with thin straps.
