Michael Barnaart van Bergen made exceptional collection

Modeontwerper Michael Barnaart van Bergen heeft een uniek collectie ontworpen ter ere van de tentoonstelling Mode ♥ Kunst in het Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag. De collectie, genaamd Hommage, is geheel geïnspireerd op de kunstwerken die in het museum hangen.

Hij heeft zes bijzondere jurken ontworpen waar hij jaarlijks nieuwe items aan zal toevoegen. De verschillende kunststromen als surrealisme en pop-art waren zijn inspiratie. Zo zegt Barnaart van Bergen: “De artistieke vrijheid waar deze stromingen voor staan spreekt mij aan. Mode wordt steeds vaker beschouwd als autonome kunst. Mijn ontwerpen staan bekend om hun draagbaarheid. Ik wil met deze collectie binnen mijn waarden een nieuwe grens opzoeken tussen draagbaarheid en kunst”.

Eén van de jurken is geïnspireerd op een foto waar een vrouw als viool op poseert van Man Ray, ‘Le Violon d’Ingres’. Op basis van deze foto heeft hij een lange knitwear-jurk ontworpen met bijzondere details.

Op 3 september is de Haagse Museumnacht. Tijdens de tentoonstelling Mode ♥ Kunst in Gemeentemuseum Den Haag die op dezelfde dag start is de collectie verkrijgbaar in de Museumshop.

Designer Michael Barnaart van Bergen designed a unique collection to honour the exhibition Fashion ♥ Art in Congregation museum in Den Haag. The collection, named Hommage, is completely inspired on the work of art that is shown in the museum.

He designed six dresses to which he will add new items each year. The different art movements, like surrealism and pop-art were his inspiration. So Barnaart van Bergen say: “The artistic freedom where these movements stand for speak to me. Fashion is increasingly recognized as autonomous art. My designs are known for their comfort. With this collection I want to search for new limits between comfort and art, but within my own values”.

One of the dresses in inspired by a picture where a woman is posing like a violin by Man Ray, ‘Le Violon d’Ingres’.  Based on this picture he designed a long knitwear dress with special details.

On 3 September is the Hague Museumnight. During the exhibition Fashion ♥ Art in Congregation museum in Den Haag that starts the same day the collection is available in the museum shop.
